Egg Freezing for Cancer Patients

Oocyte Cryopreservation (Egg Freezing) is ideal for women who are not yet ready to begin a family. It is also used for women about to undergo treatment for cancer who would like to preserve their eggs. This type of cycle can be done with or without stimulation medications, depending on what is safest for the individual determined by the type of cancer. It will require several monitoring visits so the doctor can determine the best date for the retrieval to occur. Any viable oocytes retrieved are then frozen.

Ovarian Tissue Freezing

Ovarian Tissue Freezing may be suggested to patients who have scheduled radiology or chemotherapy cancer treatments that affect a woman’s future fertility status. Women who do not have sufficient time to complete an egg or embryo freezing cycle may find this a desirable solution. Our laboratory can freeze the ovarian tissue until it is ready to be placed back into the patient after they complete their treatments. The ovarian tissue is able to naturally regenerate within the woman’s body.

Embryo Freezing

Embryo Freezing is a treatment cycle that is able to be done with or without stimulation medications prior to the cancer treatments. This is known to be one of the safest protocols for the individual. The patient is monitored over a period of time to determine the ideal time to retrieve her eggs to be inseminated, cultured in our lab and frozen as embryos.
