Conventional IVF requires a full dose of medication, but typically yields the most amount of eggs able to be retrieved. During this type of IVF cycle, a patient will return to the office for 5-8 days of monitoring to determine follicular growth and to determine when ovulation will occur, allowing the doctor to determine when the egg retrieval should take place. Once retrieved, the eggs are fertilized in our laboratory and allowed to develop in culture for 3 to 5 days after the retrieval. The embryos are then transferred back into the woman.
Some people have a more difficult time becoming pregnant, however it doesn’t mean you have to give up on your dreams of having a family of your own.
