In Vitro Maturation (IVM) is very similar to in-vitro fertilization (IVF) as both procedures involve egg retrieval.  We are one of the only clinics in the United States to offer this treatment as a unique alternative to Conventional IVF.  This minimally invasive treatment allows multiple eggs to be harvested from the ovaries with little to no medication.  This procedure is ideal for women who have been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), hormone-sensitive cancers, or who are concerned with reducing the risk of Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHHS).  IVM requires less medication for a much shorter period of time.  Women with uterine factors aggravated by estrogen and those who cannot tolerate or dislike hormonal injections also benefit from IVM.

IVM is a relatively new technique in reproductive medicine.  Your specific risks will be evaluated and discussed with one of our physicians.*
Fertility treatments are often times taxing on a woman’s body.  We have revolutionized fertility treatments by offering this treatment to our patients.  Much like with an IVF cycle, a patient will return to the office for several monitoring visits to evaluate follicular growth to determine when the egg retrieval should take place.  Once retrieved, the eggs are matured, fertilized in our laboratory and allowed to develop in culture for 3 to 5 days after the retrieval.  Several can be created without subjecting your body to high doses of stimulating injections and unwanted side effects.

*The ASRM still considers IVM an experimental procedure. (2013).
